Quick Tip Video – Google’s Exact Match Domain Update for Lawyers

By on

Have your law firm website rankings tanked since the late-September Google algorithm update?

Many law firm websites use exact match domains, also called EMDs, such as California-car-accident-attorney.com to quickly boost their rankings. Originally, Google favored these because many companies use their name in their website (such as IBM.com). However, there is now much more information available to determine the quality of a website, so Google changed their algorithm to favor different factors.

It is still possible to succeed with an EMD website, but not without ongoing content, quality backlinks, and local citations. There are no more shortcuts.

Unless you are willing to make a significant investment in your EMD websites, it is probably better to get rid of your low quality EMDs and focus all your attention on your main site, building it out with quality content and making it a resource for your clients.
